International colour management specialist, Alan Dresch, bags the Technology Hot Pick Award at PacPrint 2005. The award was presented for the ISOLithO Report software that Dresch has developed to allow professional printers accurate compliance to ISO 12647-2 specification.

To comply to the ISO standard, colour printers have to achieve the tight targets and tolerances specified in the ISO 12647 specification. When applied correctly ISOLithO assures consistent print appearance, job-to-job and device-to-device. This software offers more than proof-to-press colour consistency; ISOLithO aims to achieve a more efficient workflow, reducing time, cost, waste and improved customer satisfaction.

Alan Dresch, the man behind the precision-colour quality control system ISOLithO, flew in from the UK and demonstrated his unique software on the DES stand at PacPrint as well as successfully delivering his colour management workshops to audiences throughout the show.

Dresch is the founder of UK based colour consultancy Mellow Colour and is famous for his knowledge of colour. His background is in repro rather than litho and he is now using his almost unrivalled knowledge of colour to bring the message of the ISO standard 12647 to printers, worldwide. His key strengths include implementation of printing standards, technical troubleshooting and fine tuning of colour systems. Dresch developed his own software ISOLithO Report, to offer colour printers who really want to understand and control colour an efficient and effective solution.

One thing that Dresch is sure about is that implementing ISO 12647 is more than process control; it is about changing the way that printers operate. Dresch believes it is inevitable that print will follow customer pressure to implement printing standards internationally and now is the time to take the first step on that journey.

ISOLithO is for the serious printer who has colour-critical (and possibly international) clients. Available either as a consultancy project with local Chromaticity professional David Crowther, or as a software license, Mellow Colour's ISOLithO 2005 wins a Hot Pick for sheer colour quality.
